At a snails pace...

A fun Spring window from St John.  Love the great neon snail and dragonfly. although cute, I do not understand the pink giraffe. I love the contrast with the zig zag floor pattern.  Amazing production quality from the display flowers made from paper. The neon garden ....

Billy Goat Gruff...

Bright and bold Lunar New Year window from Saks Fifth Avenue. Using a theme of the celebration, large Chinese Dragons circle the mannequins while a lot of maneki-nekos wave at us looking at them.  Just a fun window for the New Year. Wishing you prosperity on the Year of the Ram...

Love me, love me...

Banana Republic creates a Valentine's window that I am not loving.  Nice in thought with pink post-it notes to fill a chalk heart outline, but I hate all the saying on the notes - assuming of what "we love". The mannequins are just dropped in the window on each side. Wish there was more asymmetry, of course, it is about "love" so the pairs of mannequins makes sense, but I would have liked a platform to give some depth and maybe two sets on one side and a pair on the other. The beige color story is boring. It does not need to be red, but some color would help give warmth and love to this window. Breaking my heart ...

Hit me with your best shot...

I love this clever window from Moncler that steps out of the " ring". A fun take on a boxing ring, while the mannequins were not completely build for boxing, all the details: the ring; the boxing shorts; the punching bag; the towel; the referee make this fun and exciting. Look how the background mirrors give a great reflection for the whole gym look.  Down for the count...!

Circles in the square ...

Beautiful window from Gucci for the Lunar New Year.   From side to side, top to bottom the windows are filled with disks painted with Asian inspired artwork. I love the use of solid featureless mannequins allowing the apparel to pop away from the backdrop.  Disk drive...

Heart of gold...

Dolce and Gabbana creates an over the top amazing valentine window.  Large mirrored jewel encrusted hearts in silver for men and gold for women's are perfect for the scale of the multi storied windows.  The red velvet drape add the depth as well as the multi sized hearts above the simple display of dress forms. Clean and simple. Not any hearts of glass...

Pillars of salt...

A wonderful pairing of Calvin Klein and the  AMMA Studio's artists Samual Amoia and Fernando Mostrangelo to create a beautiful window using the artist's furniture.
An article in Architecture Digest sums it up best: "In the Brooklyn workshop of AMMA Studio, ordinary materials await alchemical transformations. Piles of salt, ground coffee, and other commonplace substances are mixed with clear resin, which binds the grains before they’re joined with cement and molded into strikingly beautiful furnishings. For founders Samuel Amoia and Fernando Mastrangelo, using such unconventional media, rather than wood or stone, is a way to bring something new to the table—figuratively and literally." **
This window is so CK - clean lines and modern. I love how the furniture and couture looks like they were made for each other and the AMMA creations are amazing. Pass the salt ...

Harry and the golden fleece...

Harry Winston creates an elegant  take on the Year of the Goat. A red banner hangs with a smart gold laser cut plate.  Love the use of the flowers and the little goat to side, making this seem like a beautiful work of art. The red banner running down the center of the window allowing the sides to show is a nice touch to not over power the window in complete red. Jumping over this ...

Tubular light...

Bergdorf Goodman lights up 5th Avenue with a window that could not be any simpler; florescent light fixtures, electrical cords and LED light strips - the result a great window for the winter greys.  Note the a symmetrical balance by place the light strips in a piled fashion - random but still with some organization.   The vignette display windows focus on accessories wrapped in LED strips. It's electrifying ...!

Lace it up...

Chanel takes the lace pattern of their pant bottoms, and uses them to create a simple pretty background for their windows. The use of the layers of the lace plexi adds a nice depth and the thin white tables keeps the light airy feel consistent. See the patterns...
