How the "South" West was won...

When I first saw these windows being created, I was not a fan. Now completed, you can understand the resort-like feeling and the detail behind each story.  It would not be a Ralph Lauren window with out details. The wood work is incredible and although it does not read correctly in the pictures the lighting is prefect with color hues for a desert sunset. Check out the rock walls with flora, the rock gravel floor and the desert plants. Always the masters of display, the tables with books, drinks, and accessories are brilliant! Here is the Southwest!!!

A View from the art world...

Barney's latest window contain mannequins taking in the art of Ella Kruglyanskaya. Fun, bright and colorful. I love the white wall with white mannequins with white apparel, so the star of the window is the artwork. From the text on the glass: Ella Kruglyanskaya (b.1978) is a New York born artist. She studied painting at the Cooper Union and Yale School of Art. Recently her painting were shown in an exhibition curated by Matthew Higgs at White Columns in New York City. This body of work was created specifically for Barney's New York and will be exhibited at Salon 94 in October 2011.

In the Bird house...

Well Spring to Summer at Asprey actually had a window change. The interesting part is that it looks a lot like something we saw a little over a month ago. Maybe they got a sale price for used props or used ideas.

Eastern Exotic...

Last month Dior took us to Russia. This time Chanel is taking us to India.  The beading on the frocks is incredible, and the display texture of the flooring with the print and pillow is perfect.  Perfect execution of the displays with bags, hats and footwear on the pillows. Namaste!

Now boarding...

The newest from Prada.  The plexi cut out on the back wall is laser cut and 3D. It makes a great contrast to the leather goods on display. Very 50s air travel.

Slideshow...

The other group of windows for Anthroplogie's Rockefeller store.  A projector casting a beam of light. The beam is made up of thousands of slides, with a back light. Cleaver and so Kodak!

Nautical chic...

Here is a great window with a Nautical style. The simple row of the nautical flags give the right feeling, and add a touch of color. The best part... the apparel in the window is for suiting! Love the old school visual display of the pants and dress shirt / tie on the chair.  Nice job Faconnable.

A Juicy sale...

Now this is how sale can be done right! Not like the crazy Gap windows. Simple clean and enticing. A simple tag line. This is how a retailer can pull you into the store to find some bargains, vs. pulling stuff from the basement and throwing it on a rack.

visualphobia...

Bergdorf Goodman never disappoints me. Using the artist Mark Gagnon's sculptures and paintings, BG celebrates Phobias-- all of them in living color. As always it's the details; the electric window, the rolled list of the phobias on the floor, the fear of heights with a mannequin in super high heels; the neon lighting bolt and the mannequins covering their faces!  Frighting, scary and oh so fun!!!
