Under the boardwalk...

A great summer window from Henri Bendel.  Love the special details of these windows: the sand, the beach grass, the wood planks on the wall and floor. Great composition of the bags, towels and beach accessories.  Let's hit the beach...

A mighty woman with a torch...

Tiffany's creates a beautiful tribute to the re-opening of the Statue of Liberty. Red, white and Blue bunting add the perfect frame around these Americana windows.  Love every detail - the birds eye view of the island with a diamond torch; the large close up of her face with a diamond used for the corner of her eye; a torch surrounded with beautiful star necklaces. A special treat is a copy of the original engraved invitation from the original dedication. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave...

Let down your hair ...

Bergdorf Goodman creates a hair raising new window.  Set against a black background, the beautiful couture is placed on mannequins with Rapunzel like hair. I love the fun the window offers but the words spelled out on the wall in hair are very hard to read.  Instead of using phases or mutli words, one strong word would have been better to comprehend. or maybe have the words on the floor of the window to be able to read them more clearly on the wall made of hair...

Madison Kors...

Micheal Kors opens his largest lifestyle store and the second Madison Avenue location at  sixty-first street. With 22 foot ceilings two floor of retail over 6,600+ square feet, beautiful steal fixtures and white leather benches, this newest location is a beautiful addition to the rapidly growing brick and mortar locations for Mr. Kors.  Project Madison...

Snake in the glass...

Vince Camuto opens his latest NY store on Madison Avenue with a few slinky friends.  An interesting eclectic window with neon, pedestals, mannequins with large Ball heads ( with VC on them - which I love ) and several stuffed snakes.  One long snake looks really awkward in the position and his taxidermy pose, but the others look unaffordably real in their coils and turns.  Great placement of them around the footwear and bags - snakeskin of course! A few of the handbags are larger than their platform, which should not be the case for this new store on the famed street.  Ophidiophobia anyone?...

Walk the plank...

The windows of DKNY are really extensions of the retail environment.  This month the use of scaffolding in every combination makes some great display area and a fun space to shop.  The poles  have product hanging on them or support planks to hold mannequins and create little vignettes.  Love the use of rope not only as a prop but it softens the hard edge  that the metal poles could have created - the yellow paint also does the same.  Build it up...

Postmarked for summer...

Ann Taylor windows do not usually do anything for me, but this one does have a nice creative edge.  the use of a vinyl border and vinyl tag in a postmark theme and the banner create a nice homage to summer travel.  The handbag / sunglass vignette is nice, but the sandal looks a little awkward in position; a pair next to the bag or on the floor would read better.  Where is the mail box?...
