Mandarin Oriental...

Fall windows at Ralph Lauren. Incredible and dramatic.  As always its the details in the styling: the champagne, the flowers, the vases, the piano and that incredible chandelier!!  " I have always loved the glamour and sophistication of the 1930's and it's Art Deco and Chinoiserie influences" - Ralph Lauren

Welcome to the hood...

Tory Burch opened her new flagship on Madison Avenue this month.  Simple clean windows, although not to a good start with the cracked mirror on the platform, shouldn't installers correct this for an opening?  I love the entry doors, but there is no store branding on the window and unless you know the gold T symbol on the door, you do not know whose store this is except on the store front.  Welcome!

Out in the crowd...

Reed Karkoff's windows love to have a single use of a neutral color then add a pop to bring it together. I always love the result. This time several bustforms of beige are clustered and the one bright blue forms is front and forward for attention. I'm glad each window gives us a little POP!!

Take flight...

Prada is using the old style of air travel as a theme. The window sections of old vintage airplane is the used as the  backdrop and steamer trucks and luggage are used as pedestals. This window is very clean and focused.  Love the use of all the styling for the accessories and footwear. Now boarding...

Open the box...

I always love the whimsy of the Lanvin windows. Reminds me of a breath of Barney's.  The extra large box is top notch and the ribbons tying it all together. I love the yellow mannequin who took a spill. Brilliant!

Never forget...

On this day of September 11 in NYC, retail takes a moment to remember. Here is an assortment of the ads from the New York Times.  Macy's sums it up the best:
Hug your children,
spend the day with family
think of an old friend
wave to your neighbor
go for a long walk
light a candle
share your thoughts
take a moments for yourself
be there for someone else
watch the sunset
look forward to sunrise

Today, In your own way, remember and reflect. September 11, 2001
