Is there an app for that...?

By far, Bloomingdales has some of the worst windows of the season. While the advertising campaign this year was Ready Set Bow - which is clever, the execution to the window was a miss.  In theory the idea sounds good - create a video game app that the consumer can log into and play the game on the LED screens in the windows. The reality was in observation no one was playing. In all my travels I never saw anyone playing.  One window would have be fun, but three windows was too many. One window was interactive to take live selfies which was being used.   I like the oversize bear made o " bow" tying in the theme - more of this would have been great.   One side  window with scary mannequin's had a NYC skyline and a mock New Years Ball drop ( and great bow backdrop again ) which was fun. Ready Set GO...

Union of the snake...

With the New Year just around the corner, retailers are changing their windows for the new lunar year. Bloomingdale's creates a fun series of windows with the snake. I love how the snake travels from one window to the next.  The rhinestone face is a nice touch, as not to make it scary! The legend with the history of the characteristics of those born under the snake completes the story.  SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Oh what a circus!...

The Holiday windows at Bloomingdales.  A common theme this is year is retail adding a commercial partner. Bloomies joins the crown and created windows based off the release of the Cirque du Soleil movie: Worlds Away 3D.  Striking...yes: Creepy figurines...yes.  It really saddens me that with thousands of ideas to use for a window, the Holiday window is a movie tie- in. Last year's windows with the vintage shopping bags was so inventive, this is what is available this year? What a circus indeed!...

And a cherry on top...

The Louis Vuitton window at Bloomingdales. Love this cupcake. Designed well - perfect frosting -not looking to fake - this is a great prop. The hangbag as a cherry is perfect and love the "real" cherry is on the floor. So "sweet"...

Mentor someone...

Bloomingdales celebrates National Mentor month with a great community window using artwork from students and a few mannequins. I love how the kids mannequins are holding artwork tying the whole window together.  Go mentor someone, make a difference!!

Vintage bags...

Bloomingdale's Holiday windows! These are the best holiday windows that Bloomies has done in the past few years. The Holiday shopping bags has become a large part of the history of the store and have even become collector items. Bags from the past are displayed in the windows- then they turn or open up to reveal the next step of the scene. So Brilliant, so Clever, so NYC Holiday! The shopping bag for 2011 has been recreated with mannequins and shares it's window with celebrity ornaments displayed that will benefit the Child Mind Institute.
