The famous Plaza Hotel on Central Park South is getting a facade restoration and when the ugly scaffolding goes up, so does a clever nylon banner with a drawing of the famous facade. According to some reports it is 62,000 square feet or 1 1/2 football fields. Fit for the Plaza indeed!

Shadow waltz...
Eva Petric creates an art installation Gr@y Matter - the language of shadows; at the windows of Bergdorf Goodman. Using black and white negatives of photographs to explore the communication ability of shadows, a backdrop is created for the showcase of couture by Valentino, Oscar, and Celine that mimics the black and white shadow imagery. A stunning window of texture and tones. Don't hide in the shadows...
Drawn to shoes...
The windows of Ferragamo pay tribute to a part of an exhibition that is being displayed at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence. “It’s the first time the museum takes on such an important and intricate subject,” said Salvatore Ferragamo chairman Ferruccio Ferragamo, referring to the theme chosen by curators Stefania Ricci, Sergio Risaliti and Luca Scarlini for the exhibition. It revolves around the key and magical role of shoes in fairy tales, myths and legends from ancient times to the present day. Of course, a significant space is dedicated to the story of Salvatore Ferragamo. Organized in different rooms, the exhibition combines different art forms, from sculpture, watercolor painting and classical music: from the WDD article by Alessandra Turra. A graphic novel created by Frank Espinosa is the feature of the windows. The beautiful art is displayed perfectly in large oversize panels, with text under to connect the story. This is not only a great nod to the local New York artist, but a great tie-in to the museums exhibit and a nice bold bright Father's Day window.
Happy Bday, Mr. Bendal...
Henri Bendel celebrates their Birthday Bash. Using the famous brown and white stripes as a border and complementary brown, white and gold balloons, a few handbags are featured. Not a fan of any balloon in a window, some of them had already lost air and the handbags are really hard to see against the background, Blow out those candles...
Geared up...
New window from Diesel. Great composition and using of texture. Mannequins clusters are great and the variety of different poses adds some great depth, as well as the gear wall that does move. I like how that stripe and printed wall paper is also on the floor, grounding the center and balancing the white walls. Wondering if the window was not complete yet ad the glass does not have any tag lines for product call outs ... As the gear turns ....
Which way do I go?...
Fun summer window from Bottega Veneta. Old style road directional signs were used as a backdrop to showcase the Summer collection of high end travel bags. The quality of the signage ( using 3D lettering ) and execution of this very simple is the key, and created a perfect window. Nice touch that the more masculine bags are featured in the larger window for a great Father's Day tie-in. No charge for carry-ons...
Dad's been framed!...
Incredible Father's Day window from Saks Fifth Avenue. Colorful, creative, inspiring. Need ideas on what to buy Dad this year? Saks pulls it all together on the wall using color and theme: watches; dress shirts; socks; belts; ties and on and on. The white walls are great to show off the assorted colors and using the architectural wall frames fit perfectly ... Some hipster Dad mannequins pull the looks together. I love the path created by the trail of footwear that moves though one window to the next. It certainly beats a hammer ...
