Adding a little industrial edge, Reed Karkoff latest windows features some over sized media screens and a lot of hardware. The video is bold, fast moving and holds some urban chic; the metal shelves - do what they need to - hold the product. The single dress takes on a different forms as the video changes, and the large square box - moves up and down with the accordion spring. Now the only thing missing is some gears!...

Everything's coming up sunshine...
Spring is in the air, and Easter is around the corner. I had called out the simple old school display from Lindt Chocolate for Valentine's Day - here is their version for Easter. It's really the foil wrapping on the candies and boxes that really make this display pop with color; but the different layers really add texture and depth to this table that is a perfect example of the art and commerce. Here comes our friend the bunny...
Shoes and the city...
I love this window! Coach creates every New York women's dream closet with their Spring collection of footwear. Based off huge walk in closets for footwear, each window tells a story through color, and adds a mannequin perplexed in choosing what to wear for the day. The design of the closet for a window is perfect, designed across, simple - but with a punch, backlighting creates flair for the window drama; the details of hangbags, books piled up, clothes hanging add some texture. Great journey into the store with the mannequin platform and the rack to continue the theme onto the floor. No need to hide in this closet!...
Here come the prints...
Famed textile designer Celia Birtwell launches her newest collection for Uniqlo. With her signature bold prints, the window uses logos from the collection across the glass, and for a dramatic flare, adds a huge red curtain to frame it all in. Add some special red lighting to create the mood and vola! Spring arrives on 5th Avenue...

What's in the box...
Bergdorf Goodman announces that Manolo Blahnik will be in store to present his Spring footwear collection. I love this window. Boxes on the wall on the floor and thin simple risers coming out of the boxes to showcase the footwear. Its clean, its simple! The window boxes are perfect to have the footwear pop, the uses of colored boxes or other props or textures would overshadow the pumps. If the shoes fits...
On a cloud...
Dior has a simple window with geometric buildouts to showcase the Spring footwear and handbags. The cloud backdrop adds some depth and makes the window feel a little airy, of which balance the use of heavy props. It is the mannequin styling and especially the glitter detail in the eyes that make this window pop. While there is certainly styling on mannequins with uses of makeup techniques this unique and trending style is right on target. Float away...
Reading is fundamental...
Bergdorf Goodman takes inspiration from great literature for a cleaver twist for the Spring arrivals. "Great Moments in Literature" showcases a large oversize book that a scenes from the classic overtake the window. Over top in creativity and style; Paper art for the insect from The Metamorphosis; Mosaic animals for The Jungle Book ( look at the detail to the texture of the floor!) Some fabulous but freaky animal heads for Animal Farm; everything of detail from the cities of Paris and London ( love the big oversize Dickens head) for A Tale of Two Cities; and from In Search of Lost Time that highlights the seven volumes of the over sized tome. Amazing, amazing - " check these out" !...
