Here comes Peter Cottontail...

The small side Gap store on Fifth Avenue has transformed into it's latest carnation,  Baby Gap's Peter Rabbit collection. The big oversize graphics, the cutouts and the tree branches used as fixtures - all create a wonderful rabbit hole of an adventure...

Unraveling sweaters...

Gap, Gap, Gap ---  really ??  From the horrible string art project " JOY" to the lights wrapped around a bicycle - some of the worst windows for 2011 -- and the worst part is - these are a corporate window package, so this nightmare was seen in 1500+ windows across the US. Now that is a Gap...

Attack of the children...

The latest What The Window? comes to us from The Gap. They  are just ugly. Using large cutouts of kids that were shot out of proportion (and if it was intentionally created to be artsy- it does not read that way.)  Then there are the nasty cut outs of the cars and that SALE sign...and top it off with a "bubble quote" from one of the kids, that is ten feet away from their cut outs that are falling over... this is a What The Window &^*($!!!??

Stripe it to me...

The WTW of the month! (What The Window). The window at The Gap from two weeks ago. Its a so-so window with the stripe graphics. The composition is nice, but notice the striped top -- it's PAPER!!! Little squares are taped together to make a paper top...why?  How many customers walk into the store looking for the striped top to buy.  This just was not a single store issue, but this was in every window across doors...UGH!

Attack of the blue tape...

Sale. It is a part of retail... but what is with these windows? I know that this is not Shakespeare play, but I don't understand them.  The blue tape; the upside down graphics?; the mannequins grouped tight together... they are just plain ugly.

Where's the party...

oh Gap ... once in a while you hit it, most of the time you don't. Ribbons made into streamers for denim...maybe the holiday windows will be good.
